Tom's work for Willi's is striking, bold and graphically modern. It is a fitting 20th poster and a wonderful addition to the series. It was to be one of the last challenges Tom undertook and a project that gave us both much pleasure.

We seem to be light years from the festive spirit that engulfed our lives not so long ago. I had no idea back in June 2001, when I asked Lyu Hanabusa for the meaning behind the small postage stamp image he presented me, that his charming words would become so loaded with gravity - "For peace, love & good wine in the new Millennium", he said with a shy smile. Those words returned that September, politely, as if to a waiting room.

In 1988 he created Estudio Mariscal. In 1999 he was awarded the National Design Prize. In 2002 Alma and Linus were born and there were 45 people in the studio. Now the bougainvillea in the studio spans 26 metres and the studio is working on 64 projects including a 280-metre sculpture and a 4-page book!
